TAMPA FACIAL FILLERS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What are facial dermal fillers? By supplementing your skin's own depleted collagen with facial dermal fillers, we can smooth out wrinkles and most scars. Facial dermal fillers add volume as they are injected just below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles and scars to create a more natural, youthful appearance. Fillers can also increase the fullness of the lips and lessen the downward slant of the corners of lips. The most common areas treated by Dr. Mack are the smile lines around the mouth, fine lines above the mouth, frown lines between the eyes and acne scars. With facial dermal fillers there is no downtime with minimal side effects such as bruising, which can be covered with make-up
Previously, the only way to fill facial wrinkles was with a lifetime of bovine (cow) collagen injections, which can cause allergic reactions. Currently, Dr. Mack can use a wide range of safe, effective FDA approved facial dermal fillers to improve the appearance of deeper frown lines and nasal furrows that provides immediate results. These non-surgical results are long lasting and do not require a skin text test.
What areas of the face are treated with facial fillers? Facial fillers are used to treat wrinkles in the area of the nasolabial folds, perioral lines around the mouth, depressed scars and in the periorbital area (area around the eyes).
How long will facial fillers treatment last? Facial filler treatments are performed in our office by Dr Mack, who does all of his own injections, and take about ten to fifteen minutes.
What are facial filler treatments like? Facial fillers are pre-loaded in syringes for use in treating and correcting facial lines. A topical anesthetic is applied with some patients also using local anesthetic as needed. Ice packs are then applied and the facial filler is injected into the wrinkle, through a tiny needle, and placed just under your skin. The results are immediate and long lasting.
What can I expect after my treatment with facial fillers? Patients are up and around immediately after receiving their facial filler treatment. You can expect greatly improved wrinkles, softer creases around the mouth with lifting of the corners of the mouth. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last 24 to 36 hours depending on the area treated. There may be some slight bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with make-up.
How long will the results of facial dermal fillers last? Depending on the area treated, most of your correction may last for six months to a year. Some touch-up treatments maybe necessary.
What are the risks of facial dermal fillers? Each filler has its own unique risks associated with it. However, risks generally include allergic reactions, bruising, swelling, infections, pain and scar formation
What facial dermal fillers does Dr. Mack use? Dr. Mack uses FDA-approved products including
Restylane®,
Juvéderm™ and
Perlane® which are all hyaluronic acids, in addition to
Radiesse®. No skin testing is required for any of these fillers and Dr. Mack performs all of his own injections.
What is Restylane®? Restylane®, a cosmetic treatment to eliminate facial wrinkles is a soft tissue filler, that has replaced collagen as a popular injectable for facial lines and wrinkles.
Restylane® is a crystal clear gel soft-tissue natural filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin. Dr. Mack injects
Restylane® into the skin to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, soften facial contours, correct deep facial folds and improve the appearance and fullness of the lips.
Restylane’s® active ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which exists naturally in all living organisms. It is a key structural component of the skin, which creates volume and shape. As the human body ages, hyaluronic acid concentrations decline, causing aging changes in the skin therefore
Restylane® makes a great replacement for that which the body has lost. Because
Restylane® is virtually identical to the hyaluronic acid found in our own skin, it causes no allergic reactions. The procedure is quick with instant results and the results last 6 to 7 months. The filling is very smooth and looks natural; the procedure is quick with very little, if any, downtime.
What is Radiesse®? An FDA-approved dermal filler that restores a natural, youthful look by filling in smile lines and wrinkles. It is made from calcium-based microspheres in a natural gel that Dr. William Mack injects into the skin through a minimally invasive procedure. It is a long lasting, safe filler maintaining results for 12 to 13 months.
Radiesse® can be used in combination with chemical peels or facial surgery.
What is Perlane®? Perlane® is an hyaluronic acid facial filler that is made by the same company as
Restylane®.
Perlane®, which is thicker, is used to soften deeper wrinkles and facial folds and lasts for 6 to 8 months.
What is Juvéderm™? Juvéderm™ is a gel that when injected into your skin instantly smoothes out wrinkles and folds.
Juvéderm™ results in a smooth consistency, which is a primary factor in the long-lasting, natural appearance provided by this facial filler.
