UPPER LID BLEPHAROPLASTY
Cosmetic Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty:
The eye region is the most important aesthetic component of the face. When eye contact is made, we immediately begin forming our first impressions; judging someone to be tired, sad, angry, or pleasant-all based on the appearance of the area around the eyes. With aging, the upper eyelids may become "droopy" or "baggy" giving patients a tired look which decreases the overall attractiveness of one's eyes. Cosmetic upper eyelid blepharoplasty refers to the surgical procedure that Dr. Mack performs to reduce the tired baggy appearance of the upper eyelids. During the
eye surgery, incisions are made in the crease of the upper eyelid to remove excess skin and fat. The advantage of making the incision in the eyelid crease in that the scar is barely noticeable after a few months.
Dr. Mack performs the eye surgery as an outpatient procedure. If appropriate, upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be combined with other
eye or cosmetic surgeries, such as endoscopic brow
lift, lower eyelid transconjunctival blepharoplasty and
Erbium laser facial skin resurfacing. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia and the patient typically has the sutures removed 5 to 7 days following the surgery. Post-operatively, the patient will be asked to use cold compresses for 2 to 3 days and antibiotic ointment for one week. Following cosmetic upper eyelid surgery, patients will have an overall softer, more youthful appearance.
